In 2020, during our residency in Xiamen, China, the coronavirus engulfed the country. In no time, Xiamen became a ghost town. To curb the virus, the Chinese government took several kinds of public measures. Red banners with slogans for desirable conduct in relation to Covid-19 were hung at all intersections and other strategic places in Xiamen. 

WeChat (the Chinese version of WhatsApp) offers a function for scanning and translating the written content of a picture. After scanning, the English translation is layered over the Chinese characters, creating new images. It is possible to store these translated pictures on a mobile phone.
